Working to Ensure the Vitality of the CID – and the Region

Uwajimaya | Remodeled Seattle Store Front
We are so grateful for your support of Uwajimaya and the CID as Sound Transit continues its process to identify the stations for the West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions (WSBLE) project. Sound Transit received more than 5,000 comments on the DEIS from individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, government agencies and tribes.

Uwajimaya continues to urge Sound Transit to delay the preferred alternative decision for the CID Station and take more time to thoughtfully evaluate all options and involve the community to find solutions that minimize harm to the CID, south downtown residents and businesses and the broader community.  Additionally, we believe it’s possible to make a Fourth Avenue option fabulous. It’s an opportunity to better serve Sounder commuters and stadium visitors and to tie together Pioneer Square and the CID, creating a winning solution for the whole region.  Check out this Seattle Times Article that highlights some of the CID’s concerns, and the opportunities: Seattle’s Chinatown seeks to push a future light-rail station farther away | The Seattle Times
